Advanced Metal Clay- Epic Poison Rings!
with Patrik Kusek
Prerequisites: Basic metal clay skills. Some soldering helpful.

Fact and fiction are intertwined in the story of the poison ring. The ancient romans used them to hold deadly potions. Italian royalty used them to dispose of political foes. However, poison rings or “locket rings”  can hold a more benign purpose. They were used during the middle ages to hide relics of saints. During the Renaissance, the aristocracy used them to hold cologne, locks of hair, and portraits of loved ones.

Today we reinterpret the poison ring in a less threatening more artistic manner. In this workshop we’ll learn techniques to make poison rings from silver metal clay. These mixed media pieces can hold personal relics, treasured memories or a vision of a brighter future. Students will learn int/adv metal clay techniques in PMC OneFire Sterling and/or Aussie Metal Clay, dry to dry construction techniques, proper ring sizing, how to build hinges from metal clay, and a plethora of other mixed media techniques. Please be responsible and use your poison ring for good, not evil!
